Barnfind Ferrari 250 GTE

learned about from http://mattstonecars.com/blog/?p=216

Take for example, the case of film director Agostino “Dino” De Laurentiis’ Ferrari 250 GTE which was just expertly sold by Bonhams at its Monaco auction held just last month. This was at one time a beautiful automobile, resplendant in metallic silver paint over red leather, with a screaming 3.0-liter Ferrari V-12 up front and gleaming Borrani wire wheels on its suspension. The car has been sitting for decades, but appeared very complete and whole, which adds considerable to its value and appeal.

Bonhams sold the car for about $163,000, and it will take every penny of $100,000 to restore it properly and make it once again the beautiful automobile it deserves to be. When completed, it’ll probably be worth about that same $100,000, perhaps a little more, placing, for the moment, no value on its celbrity ownership. Hmmmm….unless I were the late director’s close relative, I’m not sure having his $100,000 car would be worth $263,000 to me.

Le Mans by Steve McQueen

It's fantastic, to me, to see the car haulers/race car transporters

the cinematography and composure of the scenes was pretty damn good, above is an example

Above and below, are more of the great photography I was impressed by.

Did you hear about the Ferrari on the Great Wall Of China? Huge problem when a hot head did a burn out ... so embarrased were Ferrari company officials, they publically apologized that a car they made, not drove, not owned, not endorsing this use of, BUT MADE... was dishonoring the Chinese national monument. That is a respectable thing to do

It was a publicity moment, the 20th anniversary of Ferrari's being allowed to sell in China. A dealership employee, not a Ferrari employee, so disgraced the Ferrari name in making tire tracks on the wall, that Ferrari company reps made an apology for the act of disrespect.

Wow, that is a class move by Ferrari. I hope China responded in respect and allowed that a manufacturer is not responsible for the users of a car, just for the quality of it's build. How Chinese citizens use cars is the realm of China's responsibility.Where cars are allowed to operate, how they attain the elevated top of the wall (by a crane) and what elected or appointed person gives the approval for a car on the wall... these are all the problems of a country, not a car maker.

Ferrari... classy way to handle this event
China... I don't know how they responded to Ferrari's PR

Learned about this on http://www.tripsandturns.com/2012/05/ferrari-burning-rubber-in-nanjing/

Highest price for a car at auction just reset to $35 million, for a '62 Ferrari 250 GTO

that is the best investment I've heard of, this car was just bought for 8 million in 2000, and in 1996 for 3.5 million... it's also a instant pass to any car show, race, or billionaires club

Need a laugh?

A 23-year-old woman flipped her boss's Ferrari 360 on a California road this weekend, thus begging the question: why was a young, attractive woman driving her boss's Ferrari? Oh, right.
