Like steampunk? I just learned of a new movie, "The Mechanical Grave"

Brass guns, top hats, and goggles... right on.

Why am I posting about non vehicular movies? It's goofy fun gearhead maker stuff. Or, as Maria May Jespy-Worthing put it:

Steampunk

We are explorers moved a hundred years
That hail from times of steam and shiny cogs
Some of us wear a thousand useless gears
Or goggles, some sort of industr’ial togs
I must admit we do enjoy ourselves
Our worlds of tea and airship piracy
We must have Wells and Verne upon our shelves
To guide us through the darkest æther seas
Although we’re from a time that never was
We feel at home there as we never have
And you may scoff and giggle at our cause—
We know how much discovery can move.
So do not mock the steampunks if you’re wise—
We’ve rayguns and brass cybertronic eyes.

This looks good, and funny, and wow... that Lincoln look cool with a hood scoop!

Just watched it, here's my review:

great to see that a Rom Com can have realistic relationship analysis and a couple great car chases

It would get a 5 of 5 stars if they had found a way to surpass the inevitable car chase on dirt being wrecked by the dust of the camera truck.

Great casting, Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars fame) and Dax Shepard (astronaut in Zathura) and Tom Arnold and Bradley Cooper (A Team and Hangover) were well cast. Tom played a role less witty and clever than that from True lies, but he is so enjoyable to see in a comedy where he isn't the lead. Dax wrote and starred in this, and nailed it. Well written relationship advice and romantic moments, and great car chases. Beau Bridges was a surprise, and his role was short but a new take on a dad role, tough but understanding.

Instead of the normal movie scenes that you can predict the endings, the punchlines, and the story ending, this was a fresh breeze through the movie plex. Thank you Dax and cast!

The Buick GN gets it's own movie doumentary!

found on http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2012/07/19/coming-soon-the-other-dark-knight-film/

Next month, Buick performance enthusiasts will get a sneak peak at a documentary film that shines the spotlight on the hottest car to roll out of Flint in the last 25 years when the first 20 minutes of Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary will be shown at the Buick Performance Group Nationals on August 4 at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH. The film is scheduled to be released in early December.
Filmmaker Andrew Filippone Jr. has spent four years tracking down Buick GN and GNX owners, racers and collectors, as well as members of the media who road tested the cars, plus the key players responsible for engineering, styling and marketing at Buick and General Motors.
In the documentary, Filippone said he attempted to explore new territory (for a car film), delving into issues of culture, social class, inheritance, and privilege as it related to the turbocharged V-6 Buicks, and away from the usual focus on mechanics and performance.

A batmobile was in the Mark Wahlberg / Jennifer Aniston movie "Rockstar"

good movie, and that goes double if you are a rock music lover or a fan of the two celebs, they did a good acting job in this one, not a business as usual in my comfortable role you already have seen me do in other movies or tv shows.

Vehicle scenes from the movie "The Artist"

Great old bus.... in the beginning of the movie the female lead character arrives in Hollywoodland on this bus, in the dvd extras they had the below color image showing the back of the bus. The tires look very 1930's or 40's, but the headlights and front end look quite 1920's. The movie at this point was pre-1929.

 Her big Cadillac, a 1939 I think

Comic Con from the vehicle perspective (Batmobiles in following posts)

looks like the architecture was made for a bunch of sci fi - fantasy fans
The best way to prove a Prius is green... use it as a planter.

Why is it like this? It's a prop for a tv show that opens this fall, Revolution. It's about the way America would deal with a planet wide loss of electricity in all applications. Nothing electrical has any function. Very cool show, I saw the first episode on preview night

In the gaslamp, you can get pedi cabs that are set up for comic con related things.

Now this movie prop with a Bugatti tag on the nose is for a movie by the guy who made "District 9" and the trailer looks like it's going to be a really cool movie. Matt Damon and Jodie Foster star in it, and its Matt's character trying to get off Earth to the huge ringworld spacestation (Ringworld by Niven) to get medical treatment to save his life... because all the best of everything got off the planet, and moved to the station.

One Bond car a day was displayed in this booth, and this Aston Martin from "The Living Daylights" is entirely fiberglass, even the tires

The Total Recall vehicle, wow. It's been named the year 2087 Chrysler 3000. What last years display had http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2011/08/movie-car-that-will-be-in-new-version.html was a police model, in Dodge name plate, and this one here is Chrysler. I think that is because Dodge had a Police car fleet scenario in place. Chrysler doesn't.
